Renfe S/252: milestones
March 1989 order placed
Roll-out of the first S/252 in Munich, locomotive no. 20.000 of the Krauss-Maffei production list. Remarkable is that the machine shown that day was in fact machine no. 20001, or Renfe S/252 002. Unit 001 was still painted yellow at that moment and the Spanish railways wanted a white coloured locomotive to be present, painted in the latest AVE-livery.
first test runs took place in the Czech Republic, mainly on the Velim test circuit of Cerhenice. 14 of 15 machines from the first batch were made ready for service there. With only one unit this was done in Spain.
