On 21.05.2012, RailAdventure picked up two Vossloh main line demonstrators at Pirna (DE). Both units have been used for dynamic trials at the VUZ test center in Velim (CZ). This means Euro3200 no.1301 and EUROlight 284 001 are in Germany now.
The latter one of these two machines was portraitted yesterday around Kiel, together with two locomotives from German origine: a Vossloh G18 (no.5001927) and a G12 locomotive. - TS

[ES/DE] This is the all new Vossloh Euro 3200 [edit]
update 2013|01|20
[ES/DE] This is the all new Vossloh Euro 3200 [edit]
This is the first Vossloh Euro 3200 locomotive, unit no 1301. Up till now, it has also been referred to as Euro 3000-AC. 24 such units are on order by the railways of Israel. However, this unit seems to have a different destination. It has PZB installed, so a pit stop at some other European country would not be a surprise. - JH
The Euro 3200 differs from the Euro 3000 (operated by Renfe as 334 series) in many ways. Its chassis and overall exterior design resemble that of the Vossloh Euro Light locomotive. The front light section has a new design. Vossloh utilizes a more advanced variant of the EMD 12N-710 12-cylinder engine (2454 kW), with newer computerized control systems and AC traction motors (rather than DC engines on the original Euro 3000 model) and IGBT traction convertors. It has a Bo'Bo' configuration using bogies of a different design. Its total weight is 88 tonnes and the Euro 3200 has a top speed of 200 kph. - Vossloh
edit: It is unclear who is the manufacturer of the AC traction motors at this moment.

Okay, we are focussing more in electrics, but this picture is too nice not to show. The new Europorte no.4013 bringing three left-over class66 locomotives from The Netherlands to France. There they continued their journey through the Channel Tunnel to the UK.
The three grey Class66 locomotives have been built a few years ago for Crossrail Benelux. However, the operator cancelled the order and the units, originally numbered as DE6313/15/16, were never delivered as such and stored in Roosendaal (NL).
Recently they were sold to GB Railfreight from the UK, that will operate them as 66747, 66749 and 66748. - MS/MLD/MC

The engine in the picture is not new. We are talking about Vossloh no. 2604 here, which we first saw during the Innotrans 2010 railway fair.
After the pictures from the harbor of Barcelona, no sign of the machine anymore. It is not on the InnoTrans, and no-one saw it arriving in Italy. Until now. Here you see the engine during transport in Collegno. - MS/JH/LXB/KAR

[UK] now official: Direct Rail Services invests in new diesel locomotives
Direct Rail Services (DRS), the UK’s leading rail freight operator, has recently ordered a fleet to of newly designed mixed traffic diesel locomotives for use in its key intermodal and passenger train operations.
The Vossloh Espana Eurolight UK locomotives are a derivative of the Eurolight locomotive (already running in Germany) and have been developed for the UK in conjunction with Beacon Rail Leasing and DRS. Due to arrive in the UK in late 2013 the locos feature a 3750hp Caterpillar c175 engine and ABB AC traction equipment delivering a top speed of 100 mph (=160 kph) and genuine mixed traffic haulage capabilities.
The locos will feature the latest emission standards and set new standards for driver environment. The initial order has been placed for 15 locos with further options for future orders. - DRS

[FR] Europorte orders twelve EURO 4000 locomotives from Vossloh España [update]
As a result of its international trade strategy Vossloh España has closed a deal with the operator Europorte which will result in an order for twelve EURO 4000 locomotives that will be used to transport goods by freight. The order has been placed with Eurosco, a subsidiary of Europorte responsible for the management of rolling stock.
Europorte, which is the rail freight subsidiary of Groupe Eurotunnel, will receive delivery in May of the first two EURO 4000, designed and assembled in the Vossloh España plant in Albuixech (Valencia). The ten remaining locomotives will be delivered during the second half of 2012. Thanks to this investment Europorte will be able to rationalise its fleet, improve its productivity and reliability, and reduce its maintenance costs.
update: Railcolor comment: Two of six EURO 4000 locomotives for normal gauge, originally built for Alpha Trains, are still not delivered. We know these as 4005 and 4006 (see images). The 4005 is known for its stay at the HGK during the past months. The 4006 was photographed yesterday near the French/Spanish border.
The other ten have to be planned from scratch, so that takes until 2012.

For ten weeks the 92 87 0004 005-1 D-VE designated machine (we call it 4005 from here) is used for various HGK freight trains. The 4005 is the fifth normal gauge Euro locomotive, originating from Angel Trains order from 2008, that is looking for a new owner. No. 4001-4004 were delivered to Beacon Rail leasing last year, and we still expect a sixth machine to arrive soon... Maybe the HGK and the Euro 4000 are a good combination, that will be clear in May 2011. - IW/PS/AB/KAR

Yesterday, we got these images of EUROlight no. 001 during one its first dynamic trials in Germany. Under supervision of IGT and with some assistance of Bombardier's 246 011 the machine has started its homologation process for Germany. BTW, this is not the locomotive shown at Innotrans 2010, that was Vossloh 2604 / 284 002, so we can conclude that there are two pre-serie locomotives of this type. Let's see if the lightness of this new locomotive-type can charm operators a bit more, here in western- and eastern Europe. It's heavy-wieght cousin of the Euro3000/4000 familiy is only succesful in Scandinavia and the Iberian peninsula up til now. - CK

[DE] Euro4000 on its way to Innotrans
All the way from Valencia, Spain, an Euro4000 locomotive is on its way to Berlin, were it will be presented at the international Innotrans railway fair. The green color of the machine immediately tells us for whom this machine is built: Angel Trains Cargo. The machine you see behind the 189 016 is Vossloh 2505/2008, one of the first of its type with normal gauge bogies, intended for the European market, to be homologated for countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. Similar looking machines for the Spanish and Portugese market are right now being delivered to ATC; the designated 335 series. In total, ATC has 30 machines on order, to be devided over the two markets mentioned.
